Contractions take 2

They're gone. Haha. Literally. I may have had 3 in the night and that's it. They stayed pretty consistent for a while and then slow started getting further apart and now... nothing. Must have just been the BH contractions and not the real thing. I feel so stupid.... I really don't know what to expect or what I should be looking for. I've read all the books and took all the classes but still... it's hard to tell what's real and what isn't. Now we keep waiting!

2 nights before the birth of my daughter, I had what you had. I knew what BH felt like, and these were more the real thing. They were getting pretty consistent, and then just like that, they slowed down and stopped. I thought sure I would be in the hospital by the end of the night. Then 2 days later at my doc appt. I was at a 6 and they sent me straight to delivery. Guess those contractions were doing some work. Maybe with you too.

I just wanted to let you know that when you feel the real thing and pressure 'down under', you will know it! It is like no other feeling in the world.

I want to tell you something to and it may be a little TMI, but here goes. When you are in labor, you are going to feel tremendous pressure like you are going to have a bowel movement, many women don't push for fear of going poo, the doctor told me that it is very rare that a women doesn't poo and to just push, they have a sheet section that separates your butt from your baby. The nurse even made a joke about thats why they are called 'little shits'.. Just some advice...

I had contractions like that for almost 2 weeks before I had Annika! Horrible! I know how you feel, first you think you're in labor and you start to get all nervous and then it goes away!

It's so hard to know sometimes but a textbook answer would be to wait until contractions are 3-5 minutes apart and are getting consistently stronger. One you are having trouble walking/talking through them it's hospital time!!

But not everyone has a textbook labor. Look at me, I would contract every 5 minutes for awhile, and then not have a contraction for 20 minutes and I was still 6 cm dilated!!

Keep the updates coming. It's all so exciting!

You'll know when they're real because they'll really, really HURT.

You are probably dialating though. You might also (maybe TMI) lose your mucous plug, bleed a little, have diarrhea... All of those are signs of impending labor.

I totally know what you mean. I was having contractions for a few hours and they didnt hurt so I didnt go to the hospital right away...by the time I got there I was 9 centimeters!! Its different for everyone and no matter how much you read, you never truly know what to expect :)

so excited for you!!
